Yes, insurance companies pays for the damages in most cases but it takes FOREVER to get all the repairs made and the cars sellable again. All this is business as usual for everybody involved, body shops and dent guys love it. Everybody makes out great except the dealer who still has to pay floor plan interest on these un-sellable cars for however long it takes to repair them. Sometimes (as in the most recent case) months !! This dealership still has bills to pay, mouths to feed, pay-roles to meet etc. Some of these stores have hundreds of employees, all of them depend on a paycheck. I’ll bet you never thought of that did you ?? Meanwhile, the manufacturer whomever they may be, Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Toyota all of them…….. They don’t care either. So, they’re breathing down the dealers throats begging for him to order MORE cars and SELL the ones he’s got, which remember, are un-sellable !!! It’s crazy. But the reality is, the huge new car dealerships (stress factories) determine the value of used cars and trucks in a huge way. Because , of the manufacturers demand as well as huge cash incentive bonuses that the mega stores are paid and depend on in order to operate……. They put stupid money in trades. That’s how they sell a new car for thousands of dollars below invioce, they depend on getting such and such amount of money at the end of the month but this all depends on selling a monthly quota. In the car business this is called “your number,” everybody in the new car business is always, always, always chasing the number. The money they hope they will get from Detroit or Japan at the end of the month is already spent !!! It’s lost in the price of the new car that they had to sell to get the number to make the cash to order the cars that they are forced to order for the next month !!!! It’s worse than the government !! So they make this up by adding the loss to the trade in which results in higher auction and wholesale prices which reflect in retail prices so the entire used car market goes goofy high., The big dealers are already all over radio, television and news papers holle
