We love Subarus, and we sell a lot of them, but they can occasionally give you fits. As you may (or should) already know if you are shopping Subbies, the head gaskets are a MAJOR problem issue on ALL older Subbies with any miles over 75k. And this otherwise very nice ONE-OWNER, NO ACCIDENTS, NO RUST 2003 was no exception - they were leaking, not badly, but to be fair to the next owner, they needed replacement. So we did that, along with the timing belt and the brkes. The net result, we believe is a nice looking, great running Forester that should be good to go for another 10 years and-or 150K miles! Dont make a mistake and believe you can buy an older Subaru and get by without having the head gaskets done -you will need to, sooner or later. At this price, with gaskets, belt, brakes all done on a NO ACCIDENTS, ONE-OWNER, NOT FROM UP NORTH Subaru, we just dont think you can buy one cheaper. You may find a lower purchase price, no doubt, but you will probably end up with a greater outlay when you do.
