1971 GTO number matching engine, 400 turbo tranny and posi 3.90 rearend. the car shows to be a GTO Judge, but the car was produced AFTER the final February 21, 1971 cancellation date for Judges so pontiac nostalgia freaks argue over this one. The Build Date code is 3rd month 3rd week of 71. The order date was prior to 2/21/71 Judge corporate cutoff date. This may be a rare 400 cu/in Judge,,, one of the last ones ordered and produced to fullfill final Judge orders for 71. Only 357 hardtop 455 judges were made in 71. The suspension is all original and very heavy duty with the larger tortion bars and positrac rearend. The car needs a frame off restoration and mild rust repairs to hood and lower fenders. the car runs but needs major tuneup from sitting so long (10 years). otherwise, the car is all there and not wrecked. the D-80 spoiler option is also on the car. I restore cars for a hobby and purchased this one from a friend with full expectations to finish and drive this bad boy. I have all the books, receipts and lots of documents that go with the car. I am running out of time and dont want to let this one go but must sell. price is firm. Someone who understands resto muscle cars would appreciate this one for sure. I will send pics upon request. Posi-traction 10 bolt rear ends were available as an option on 400 CI engine equipped GTO's, while all 455 CI GTO's were available with a 12 bolt open or optional 12 bolt posi-traction rear-end., , Motor Trend tested a 1971 GTO with the 455, four-speed transmission, and 3.90 axle, and obtained a 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds and a quarter mile acceleration of 13.4 seconds at 102 mph (164 km/h)., , The Judge returned for a final year, With the standard equipment being the Mountain Performance package was the 455 HO. Only 357 were sold before The Judge was discontinued in February 1971, including 17 convertibles today the rarest of all GTOs, aside from the 1969 Ram Air IV convertible. Only 10,532 GTOs were sold in 1971, 661 of which were non-Judge equipped convertibles.
