The El Camino was produced by GM between 59-60 and 64-87 and was based on the Chevelle platform from 64-77 and continued through the 78-87 models years based on the Malibu. Although it is based on a car line is classified and titled as a truck. The 78–87 (5th gen) El Caminos were produced in four trim levels with Super Sport being their performance package. The 82-87 El Camino sported a frontal appearance with a crosshatch grille flanked by quad rectangular headlights. The 84-87 El Camino SS was offered as a conversion which was done by Choo-Choo Customs and included an aerodynamic front end similar to the Monte Carlo SS. It was repainted in its original color of black back about 10 years ago. It shows well but it is not perfect and there are a few rust bubbles starting to show in the rockers and the quarters right above the wheel well moldings as well as the lower right hand corner of the passenger door and the lower left hand corner of the front right fender. These are all easy fixes but we just wanted to make sure you knew about them. The interior is all original except for the stereo and has held up pretty well considering the cars age and mileage.
